A Busy Year

We have had a very busy spring here at Salt Harbor with great weddings and amazing clients.  In addition to that, Jennifer has been working on a brand new company.  Pressed Cotton, her new endeavor, opened in January. It is an online retail store for weddings, events, and gatherings.  Jennifer, along with three other industry creatives, has spent the last year researching, traveling, and purchasing lots of amazing event goods. The result is collection of goods from around the world, local finds, and products that have been created and designed in house.  Click on the image below to take a look.  In the coming months, we will be adding lots of new weddings, photoshoots, and updates on Salt Harbor.  We can't wait to share them with you!



Christmas Crafting

This holiday season, we will be hosting crafting classes in our studio.  Some nights will be dedicated to paper and moss, other nights to fresh arrangements and wreaths, and the final night to wrapping up all of those holiday gifts!  Come join us for an evening of holiday cheer, and Salt Harbor crafts for your home.  You bring the wine, and we'll provide all of the crafting supplies.  We can't wait to see you here! Christmas Publication

So many amazing things are happening at Salt Harbor Designs that we barely have time to blog about them.  We have recently been featured in several national publications and have some great national features coming up next year.  One of the most exciting features from 2012 has been in the Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Ideas bookazine, on stands now.

Last Christmas we planned a fun craft night for all of the women who worked in the Salt Harbor and Millie Holloman Photography office.  The night originated because we wanted to create for ourselves some of the holiday crafts we were creating for our clients.  The staff invited their mothers and we expanded the night to some friends; and the evening quickly grew into a party, as is our style.

Millie, of course, captured the night in photographs and after Style Me Pretty blogged the night, we were approached by Better Homes and Gardens to use the photographs.  We are so excited about the result, a 12 page spread of our craft night.

This holiday season, we will be hosting several craft evenings, where people from the community are welcome to join us in creating crafts for their homes.  We will be announcing the dates for our Christmas Crafting soon.  If you would like more information, please write jen@saltharbor.comand we will add you to the SHD newsletter. 








Product Styling

Salt Harbor Designs continues to grow and change, and after five years I am still surprised when it heads in a direction I did not expect.  I am surrounded by such great people and such talent, and the combination of those talents has allowed Salt Harbor to evolve with our set of skills and interests.  My employees amaze me every day, and I humbled by their never-ending loyalty and continuous contributions to our company.  Anna, Jenne, Abi, Laura, Sara, Brent, Katie-- each of them is such an essential part of who we are and what we do. 

My friendship with Millie Holloman and her staff also has been absolutely essential to determining our direction and purpose.  They push us and challenge us everyday, and now that we share an office, the relationship has become all the stronger.

The next few years will be filled with change and growth, and it is exciting and scary all at the same time.  We have projects coming up that I never could have begun to imagine five years ago.  Salt Harbor will adapt and change course as needed, but the the people here will remain at the heart of what we do.

One of our recent discoveries has been product styling.  I had never considered this to be something people might use or need until we were asked by the Nantucket Bike Basket Company to reenvision uses for their baskets and stage them in use in different ways.  We brainstormed with Millie Holloman Photography on unique uses for the baskets and developed the following scenes.  We are looking forward to styling more products and businesses!        




NEW Design Collections

We have been asked for years if our inventory of vases, decorations, candles, lanterns, and custom pieces is available for rent people who are not our clients.  While some of the items have been available through Harborside Event Rentals, we limited much of our specialty items to our own clients.  Next year, Salt Harbor is scaling back and taking only a very limited number of clients, so we have decided to open up our inventory to the general public. 

We have teamed up with Harborside Event Rentals and created 10 unique design collections.  These collections are inspired by weddings and photo shoots that we have done in the past.  They contain all of the pieces a bride needs to put together the"Salt Harbor" look for her day.  Each collection is designed for 10 tables and 100 guests, but can be increased if needed.  We have even provide the flowers, if the client desires.  These collections are perfect for the client who does wants the SHD look without the planning and design services.  We are so excited about them!
