Millie Holloman and I teamed up for another fun photo shoot for The Balcony's Open House. We set up engagement shots that incorporated the orange theme at the gorgeous Orton Plantation. It is a great idea to incorporate your event concept into a few of the engagement shots--then they can be easily incorporated into the design of the event space!
We set up the open house as though it was an actual event. We used this great old ladder to tie escort cards.
Escort cards almost always have to be done last minute, which means that unless you are hiring someone like us to handle them for you, they can be difficult to get professionally printed. This is a great way to pre-print the escort cards. Then when it comes time to assign tables, you just circle the right number.
Nicki McRae and I sat down to brainstorm the right cake for an orange grove and I am smitten with the results. Not your typically wedding cake, but I love it! Nicki amazes me every single time!
For centerpieces, we used a variety of old white containers. Below are sugar and flour canisters. Sometimes the best vases are not vases at all, but pictures, canisters, wine decanters, even trashcans and kitchen utensil holders.
Bay leaves were tucked in the twine that was woven through each napkin.
I was lucky to find some lilac this time of year-- it is one of my favorites! We used it with a mixture of ranunculus, kumquats, garden roses, bay leaves, eucalyptus, and orchids.
I love the challenge of reinventing the typical guest book. For this one, guests were asked to type their wisdom about what love is and write their wishes for the bride and groom.
Small pieces of paper were pre-printed with "Love is...".
Then we framed some famous "love is" quotes!
Kumquats are the cutest!
More amazing shots by Millie and Amanda from MHP!
